Charles “Chuck” Bennington came into CrossFit in 2008 with no gymnastic background. Just like many of you that have been around CrossFit that long can relate to, he was forced to learn his first muscle up through only a meager smattering of YouTube videos and a single CrossFit Journal article. Back when it was still an emailed PDF…

In 2009, he received his CrossFit Level One, CrossFit Olympic Weightlifting, and CrossFit Gymnastic Certifications. That year he also relocated to Fort Worth, Texas and began coaching under Coach Tucker at GSX CrossFit. While he began with only 2 early AM classes per week to coach, he eventually transitioned into head coach, and finally Director of Operations. During his time at GSX, he began working as an Assistant Coach for the CrossFit Gymnastic Certifications. Seeing the opportunity to help people make progress through the gymnastic elements in CrossFit in the safest and most logical manner was an exceptionally rewarding experience. Being able to instruct people on the skill and strength items that he himself had initially butchered his way into without guidance helped him to define that he wanted to spend his life working to develop as a coach. After several years working in the capacity of Assistant Coach, he was promoted to a Lead Coach role where he acts in the highest calling that we may be tasked to: the service of others.

Chuck currently resides in Sarasota, Florida where he and his wife own and operate Seaward CrossFit (www.seawardcrossfit.com) Aside from traveling as a lead coach with CFG and coaching at his home gym, he also works on a one-on-one and remote coaching basis to assist individuals competing in weightlifting, powerlifting, and CrossFit with programming and nutrition guidance. In addition to the previously listed certification, he has also completed CrossFit Endurance and CrossFit Kids certifications.
